Need help QUICK! (urgent!! allergic reaction..?)?!

Question: hi.. um okay so i just went to the doctor today because i have a sinus infection. he gave me a prescription to take for a week. i'm allergic to penecillin so i told him that, so i know that's not the problem. anyways, i just had a bath, and i put some fragrance/aroma oil in the bath (i've done this before, just not this exact brand) and then my bottom (lol) started to feel soreish, so i looked in the mirror, and found big blotchy red marks on my legs, but/hips/thighs, and my arms! is this from the aroma oil or might i be allergic to the prescription?

i took my prescription at about 5:30pm and i just found the blotches at about 9:00pm.

thhanks so much!!!!!!!

It would be a good idea to take benadryl(diphenhydramine)
That is in some cold medications. You should call a nurse hotline if there is one in your area or a hospital. allergic reactions can be very serious.
Your reaction can be from the bath or the medication. It most likly is from the bath I think. I think most medication allergic reactions show up with a rash on your face and throat.

You might try a baking soda bath, oatmeal bath or some medicated lotion that is for itch.

It's possible that you could be having a reaction to either the medication or the bath oil. To be on the safe side, I would take a couple of benedryl and call the pharmacy where you got the medications.

Could be either or, hard to tell really. If you are concerned, in pain, can't breathe etc. go see a doc right away!
If it's only "hives" take some Benadryl and talk to a pharmacist!

post what the prescription is and I will tell you

** I'd say the bath oils. Have you used this brand before? Maybe you need to get an opinion from your mom or go to the doc.

either ring the doctor or the hospital for advice

what is the prescription? and i break out in hives too. i just recently learned i'm allergic to penecillin as well, but i took it a week before the rash ALL OVER showed up and it stayed a week too! When i break out in hives over something i ate or in your case you think it could be the oils, i take benadril, go to sleep and it's usually gone by morning!!

It sounds like hives. I get them terrible. Take and anti histamine and if possible go to doc as soon as you can. I always need a cortisone shot which is very pain full.

it sounds like your prescription. stop taking it and go to the ER if you have any shortness of breath, difficulty swallowing or any severe rash. Otherwise, call your doctor in the morning

Hi 3bree,

Could be either but I'd say prescription. Take Benadryl, call pharmacist while your waiting to see if the Benadryl takes effect. if all else fails go to Urgent Care, Minute Clinic in Target or ER @ the hospital. Allergies can cause death especially if you can't breathe or get to hospital ( I know been there). Call Medics they at least have oxygen. Have a good AM. :0)
Additional Details: make sure the pharmacist knows you have Penicillin allergy that way if he/she can warn you encase the physician makes a mistake. If you taking it just get prescription from counter & type it in right. Could also LQQk in the PDR bool online
