Scar tissue...?!

Someone mentioned my dad may have scar tissue from cancer surgeries. But he has been in remission for 10 years. Is this possible that scar tissue could be the issue even after such a long time? Has anyone ever experienced something similar to my dad? Or does this sound familiar for cancer survivors?
