If you have strep throat, you should not be contagious 24 hrs after beginning antibiotic treatment.

This condition is highly contagious and can lead to severe complications in some persons so I would certainly not recommend attending class and pretending that you do not have it. Complications can include rheumatic fever, damage to heart valves, kidney inflamation, sinus infection, ear infection, and even Scarlet Fever. Not telling that you may be infected with the bacteria would be unjustifiably immoral and irresponsible.

I am not clear if you have or have not missed a day already but really this is not a factor here. I honestly believe that if you explain to the instructor that you are ill with a highly contagious infection, they will do whatever they can to make exceptions in the rules to accomodate you. You might be amazed at how people are willing to bend the rules when you open up and talk openly with them about your illness. They surely will understand and appreciate the fact that you are showing a concern towards the health of others.

The second issue is that you THINK you have strep throat. You need to get a medical examination to determine this. It may be that you have a simple sore throat with a cold/flu viral infection. The test to determine strep throat is simple and quick so if you do test positive, treatment can begin at once. In a rare case, you could even have tonsillitis.

This infection is more than just covering your cough or sneeze. It is spread through the objects you touch. Anything from doorknobs to kitchen utensils to bathroom objects to other surfaces can spread the bacteria to others who touch these things then touch their mouths or eyes.

Sorry, but this is not the time to be selfish. This is a time to show others that you have a conscience and concern for your fellow friends and neighbors. Believe me, your honesty will be rewarded and respected.

Ooohhhh, I'm just got over strep throat. You should to the doc. You wont be contagious anymore after being on antiboitics for 24hrs. Good luck with that!

Your fourth time?? In how long? My son had it 9 times in one year, so they had to take out his tonsils at age15-16. Go to your doctor and get some antibiotics if you do have it. Also, sometimes they tell you not to go back to school for 48 hours instead of 24 hours.
