The back of my hands are puffy, red and dry and sting slighty when water touches!

Question: They almost look sunburnt but not quite.

Answers: They almost look sunburnt but not quite.

I would have to agree with it being from the weather changes. I would also have to ask you if you - like myself - are a chronic handwasher. I tend to wash my hands numerous times throughout the day and I also tend to use hot water. I wash dishes a lot, too, and use hot water to do that as well. This causes my hands to turn red, become dry, and sting any time I get them wet. It is extremely irritating and painful. I would recommend trying Eucerin or Nivea lotions. Vaseline makes great hand lotions, too. Intensive Rescue Lotion is a great one to try. You can also look for waterproof lotions that work rather well. A lot of nurses and doctors who are washing their hands constantly use this type of lotion. One other thing I might suggest would be before you go to bed, use vaseline petroleum jelly (or a rich emoilient), put it all over your hands (from finger tips to wrists) and then apply latex powder-free gloves. Wear the gloves while you sleep and then take them off in the morning. Your hands will feel terrific! Stay away from any lotions or soaps that are heavily perfumed to avoid further irritation.

By the way - if you go to www.vaseline.com , you can print out a coupon for the Intensive Rescue Lotion ...

It's probably just the weather drying them out. I just went through something this myself, minus the puffyness. Get some good moisturizing hand cream and use it throughout the day and at night. make sure it's not scented or it could burn.

Sounds to me like dry skin. mine get dry, flaky and red, and sting when i get them wet. If your skin is sensitive, then using harsh cleaning products may irritate as well, use lots of hand cream.

this is most likely dry skin, n sometimes its due to too much hand washing or freezin weather, go to pharmacy like Walgreens to get hand moistionizer or something like that
