Heres a step by step way to prepare for and treat yourself during the hayfever season.......

Prepare for Allergy Season
Step 1:
Start treatment at least 2 weeks before your typical allergy season with a drug-free nasal spray to coat the nasal passages. It's important to get ahead of the symptoms to be able to better control the allergy attack.

Step 2:
Maintain a healthy immune system throughout the year. Increase your intake of vitamin C to boost your immunity as you enter the allergy season.

Step 3:
Keep your overall health in shape with proper diet, routine sleep patterns and lowering your stress level. The use of natural anti-inflammatory herbs such as garlic, ginger and turmeric may be used to supplement your dietary intake.

Try Homemade Remedies First
Step 1:
Stay indoors when pollen producers are most active. This is usually between 5:00 and 10:00 in the morning. If it's hot and windy, try to avoid going outside at all.

Step 2:
Wear a filtration mask if you garden or mow the lawn.

Step 3:
Try a homemade remedy using a neti pot to cleanse your sinuses. Mix warm water, baking soda and salt according to directions and pour into the sinuses. The technique flushes the sinuses in one nostril and out of the other.

Step 4:
Remove allergens such as dust mites and pollen from laundry using hot water at least 140 degrees F. For laundry where high temperatures are not recommended, a double rinse is an acceptable alternative.

Step 5:
Find homemade remedies for allergies such as hay fever are made with boiled minced grapefruit and lemon with a little honey added. Take this solution three times a day to treat allergies such as pollen.

Step 6:
Protect your nose from irritation due to allergies by applying a tiny bit of petroleum jelly inside each nostril. Inhale the fumes of boiled chamomile in water.

Step 7:
Know that lime is promoted as an effective homemade method to treat allergies. Squeeze half of a lime into a glass of lukewarm water. Use a tsp. of honey to sweeten. Taken once daily, this remedy is thought to act as an anti-allergic agent.

Hope this helps

My cousin told me to mix saline water and sweet oil (olive oil) half and half and put it in a spray bottle and use it as a nose spray and it works. Keeps sinuses from drying out and throat from itching!!! Worked for me!!

Do a google search for your local farmers' market, then pop along and buy locally produced honey.

Eat a teaspoon of the honey every day.

It works to beat hayfever because your body begins to build up a resistance to the pollen (which is local).

I have been doing this for the last couple of years and it works a treat.

Get started soon though, I usually start doing this in February time.

a TEASPOON of PURE honey twice a day....owrks a treat but must be the pure honey not mixed shop variety.

I've heard taking locally produced honey is helpful although I have my doubts.

I find that my symptoms are at their worst in the early hours of the morning (5-6 am) and early evening. I shower and wash my hair every evening in the summer to remove the pollen before I go to bed and change my bedding very regularly.

I know that taking medicine every day is rubbish but I would rather that than the misery of hay fever. Alterative therapies just aren't advanced enough at the moment to be very effective.
