Has anyone heard if Purina Pro Plan causes cancer in dogs?!

Question: I had to put my dog to sleep 3 days ago because of a massive cancerous tumor in her stomach. Someone told me their dog had cancer and was using Pro Plan, and that their vet thought the same thing. I switched my dog to Pro Plan about 3 years ago. If anyone knows anything about this please share the information. Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear about your dog...I did a google & yahoo search & all I could find was people just asking questions (on here!) if it does cause cancer or not. I have never heard of it myself until now. My guess is it must just be a "myth/rumor". Here are a few links for you to check out: http://www.diamondsintheruff.com/foodcho...
&
http://www.flint-river-dog.com/dogfoodco...

p.s. CF sounds like an idot...there isn't even anything in the link she gave you that says anything about PPP causing cancer...she "knows" all about animals? Whateva...she may have worked for a vet (of course they push THEIR food cuz it's more jing in their pocket)...

I have heard these rumors, but i think they are just that.

YES

infact most lower quality dog foods contain ingredients suspect of causing cancer

it might have been the food the dog was on before hand.. AND pro plan...

read the link.. before you get another dog - print it out and take with you when you buy doggie food..

remember grocery store foods are ALL crap and MANY sold in big Box stores are also CRAP -even "Science Diet" - sold by VETS.. is CRAP (vets sell it cause they are paid to and often dont receive any training on ingredients in pet food)

for good foods you need to check groomers and smaller independant stores -and livestock food stores
