Drink lots of lemon tea, gargle with salt water (unappealing, but it works for momentary relief), and at night, rub vix vapor all over your throat especially where it hurts and safety pin and old sock around it, it really helps. If it continues you really should see a doctor because it could be strep throat, which DOES need antibiotics, like amoxicyllan or in the long run could be fatal because it will attack your heart (not to scare you, that is a last resort and takes a very very long time). Also if it feels like mucus-y don't eat dairy because it will only add to it. (If not, then yogurt is good).

Go see a doctor.

Whiskey.

try gargling some salt water. it tastes really bad but it works!!!

Certain types of sore throat germs can be cleared up by eating live yoghurt (the live bacteria in the yoghurt eat up the bacteria on your throat)... depends how far along you are and what caused it, but it won't do any harm to try, and it's worked many times for me and people I know.

Don't go to a pill pushing Doctor. Unless you have plenty of money and like being sick. Doctors just want to give you Antibiotics for everything. A sore throat is a virus infection and antibiotics don't work with virus infections.
Gargle with salt water. You can get some o t c Chloraseptic throat spray to ease the pain.

Sleep and relax, drink lots of water and take throat lozengers. If it gets worse, go to the doctor might be tonsilitus.

For temporary relief, gargle with salt and water and drink plenty of water.
Most sore throats are caused by bacterias so antibiotics would help BUT before taking any antibiotics, have an appointment with a doctor. He'll probably order a swab test to determine the bacterias present in your mouth, then give you appropriate antibiotics.
