We would not need a cure?!

Question: for aids if people used protection, and got tested regularly and if they found out they did have aids or hiv, they would get the HIV treated and not have sex if they had aids.

this would solve the entire aids epidemic

In fact ,we could eliminate all STDs entirely if no one ever had sex - we just used artificial insemination for all pregnancies (after testing, of course).

At some point, you end up balancing personal choice and civil rights with public safety. In my opinion, people should be able to take certain risks (like eating fatty foods or having sex) and then deal with the results. All of life is balancing risks and experience.

Riding in cars and airplane isn't 100% safe. Neither is eating butter or swimming in the ocean. Somewhere between having nothing but unprotected sex with IV drug users and wrapping yourself in bubble wrap is the right balance - and that balance will be different for different people.

I'm sorry that you are so frightened of HIV that you feel the need to condemn those who suffer from it to a life without sex. Perhaps you ought to read more about the current state of HIV treatment, and the (very low) risks associated with having protected sex with HIV+ people. It might make you feel better about the current status of the HIV epidemic.

Good luck.

Is there a question buried somewhere in there ???

Gary

agreed

I'm not sure. I suppose I agree with you. Sure.

and just let them die? You sound so heartless, what about people who get raped by an hiv positive person then what? let them die because of someone else ignorance, oh please.

No I don't think so. What about the people that already have HIV/AIDS? And if people get tested, what makes you think that they are going to openly tell people that they have HIV/AIDS? What if the condom breaks while you're having sex....then what? Remember HIV/AIDS is transmitted through breast milk, blood, vaginal fluids and semen. But I'll do you one better. Watch this:

I think this will show you that no matter what kind of ideas or cure you come up with to try to make things better, there is always someone out there like this guy who is already a step ahead of you.
