Anyone have a child with Autism?!

Question: I have 1 child who has autism. He will be turning 10 this year. He's not severely autistic, more borderline. But we have issues with keeping his attention and other issues associated with his condition.

Just interested to hear from other parents who have children with autism and what some of the issues you face with your child's autism.

Also I have started a group in Yahoo for parents, family & friends of children with Autism.

My daughter has autism. She is 7. Her problems are prro speech, severe hyperphagia, PICA, repetition, ADHD. She is a mild to moderate severity of it. She is friendly unlike most autistic people and she is very sweet. We recently started her on medication to help her with behaviors because the sggestions weren't working for her. Some of it is helping and some of it isn't, but we will get through it eventually.

I have a brother with autism. He was diagnosed back in 1972. He is severely autistic. He has the vocabulary and comprehension of a 14 month old. He still lives with my parents. Eventually, he may wind up in a group home. However, there is only one for autism in the whole state here. He can feed, bathe, and dress himself and he is potty-trained.

My 7 year old girl excels in academics but rarely talks or has normal socila conversations. Im looking for a good kids support group where she can work on her social skills with other Aspies but havent found anything.

Aren't you interested in what autistic adults have to say? Parents of autistic children are notoriously obtuse, seeing only *neurological* determinants in the "issues," and therefore concentrate on behavior modification rather than psychotherapy. This usually ends up being disastrous for the child:
