Do I have Lung Cancer?!

Question: sorry to ask again, but i will be more detailed this time. I am 15, dont smoke and my parents dont smoke. I am realyl worried i have lung cancer. I have been producing a lot more phlegm than usual for over 2 months, but i thought it was a cold. I think i am getting moobs, although i am slim. I am not losing weight, and my appetite has actually increased. I feel short of breath. I have been to the doctors about symptoms different from these and they said that i was suffering from anxiety, hence the hypochondria. I am really fed up. My parents think i am being paranoid and i dont want to mention these new symptoms because they will just ignore them. I had chest pain. Not when i breathed, but it hurt occasioanlly in my chest. that lasted for about 3 hours yesterday, but has not affected me today. I was wondering if this could be hyperthyroidism. The glands on my neck swelled up yesterday but have gone down. I was wondering if anyone has experienced these symptoms or knows what it might be

Normally with lung cancer there are no symptoms. Your phlegm would be blood streaked,.. but not in all instances, its just one of the symptoms. If the phlegm is greenish in color, it could indicate infection, perhaps pneumonia. I would try to insist on xrays. I really get upset when someone under the legal age is passed off and not be taken seriously when it comes to health issues. Especially these days when cancers are popping up in people least expected to get it. With the shortness of breath it also could be allergies or bronchitis. Chest pains seldom occur in lung cancer til very late stages. The enlarged lymph nodes may also be a sign of infection somewhere in the body.

You most likely don't have lung cancer, it's extremely rare for a person your age. Have you had a chest xray?
Look up costochondritis (sp?) a common cause of chest pain for someone your age.
Hyperthyroidism would kill your appetite so you can probably rule that out. Swollen glands usually some sign of infection but can also be from something as simple as dental work.

I am 17 and I`m smoking for 2 years now, I wanna mention that I don`t have any health problems with my lungs. I am absolutely sure that you don`t have lung cancer, althrough I recommend to you a lung X - Ray as soon as possible. I don`t like your parents.

go to the doctor and get a full medical check up.. I don't believe it's anything to do with the lungs as you don't have pain when you breathe.. it could be something wrong with your thyroids.. then that can be checked out easily.. get an EkG for your heart...in most lung diseases and cancers you lose weight and appetite... i don't believe you are a hypochondriac.. I am sure you are short of breath.. the doctor could do a simple spirometer test with you where you blow into a device which shows the lung capacity and a chest Xray will then definitely show if you have any reason to worry about your lungs...but I don't think so.. anxiety is an illness and causes physical pain.. I know because I have shortness of breath and pain in the chest too and it's from anxiety but get a proper evaluation from the doc..
Good luck xxx
