Shingles is very uncommon in teens. It occurs from a reactivation of the dormant varicella (chicken pox) virus, which is dormant in your nerve endings. The first sign is often a tingling feeling on the skin, itchiness or a stabbing pain. After several days, a rash appears beginning as a band or patch of raised dots on the side of the trunk or face. It then develops into small, fluid-filled blisters which begin to dry out and crust over within a few days, looking just like chicken pox. When the rash is at its peak, symptoms can range from mild itching to extreme and intense pain. The rash and pain usually disappear within three to five weeks. Generally the rash follows one to two nerves in a straight line, so it would be unlikely to have it on the trunk and leg at the same time unless the rash is connected. Here's a photo:

it's not commonn in teenager-but can happen-usually in people over 50 or 60

you only get shingles if you had chicken pox earlier...

the shingles can be everywhere

Shingles is very unusual in a teenager and usually means their immune system has been compromised by something. You can get it on the leg and the trunk, especially with a weak immune system.

Not sure what other rashes look like shingles. You can only get shingles if you have had the chicken pox, or sometimes the vaccination. Either way, if you suspect shingles get into a doctor asap and ask about their immune system.
