If by "using the computer" you mean "staring at the sun", then yes.
Tanning is caused by ultraviolet light, which is not visible to the human eye. This type of light is not given off by computer monitors, which only produce visible light. Producing the invisible light that causes tanning would be a complete waste of energy, since all you have to do is look at the monitor.
Tanning beds have to use special lights that will tan people, normal lights will not do this!
