If you take blood from an anemic person (for a test), will you make them feel wo!

Question: i.e. won't they still need that blood to function, esp since it's already depleted?

The effect of taking blood can vary from person to person, and while others feel nothing at all, in extreme cases, you may very well experience a reaction from this. This can include dizziness, drowsiness, and feeling faint. People of a smaller build often tend to complain about these reactions more. Be sure and apply pressure to the spot where the blood was taken, as this ensures there is little of the "bruised appearance" or purplish bluish skin around the spot. Several people who I who are not even anemic and yet they did experience some of these. Please don't be alarmed though, everything I have described above, if experienced only lasts for a couple of hours, tops! A test like this is usually done to get an idea of your blood count to determine if you're really anemic or not...

For a single small test, it shouldn't have a major influence. If it's multiple tests and they are severely anemic, it poses a more real risk.

Well usually very little blood is taken--no more than 20 mL at a time--for testing purposes and its a necessity in order to pinpoint the cause and best treatment for the anemia. The person may experience some increase in their symptoms but chances are they won't and if they do it should be relatively mild.

they will be fine.
I'm anemic and I have my blood tested all the time. All is means is that you are low in iron. You might get a bruise where the blood was taken from, I find that pressing really hard on that site for 10 minutes after the needle cuts down on bruising.
But no it will not make a person feel worse.
