i have never gave blood
about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks ago :)
3 years ago, sad to say, but whenever I go in, they tell me my iron isn't high enough, so today I bought some iron pills.
A few months before my pregnancy..October 2005!

never, i know i should and all those adverts make me feel bad but i have got an overwhelming fear of getting blood taken, i'm fine with needles but the whole blood thing just does something to me. its bad enough hving to get a vile taken at the doctors, but the thought of a whole pint - going queasy as i type
Never.
I should. I have taken enough when I was in and out of hospitals.
I would like to but due to a health condition called pernacious anemia my blood is not usable .
6 months ago, so I am due for another visit.
I really dont like blood and it makes me feel a bit ill, especially when you have to squeeze your hand to get it to flow! And mine doesnt flow out easily so the machine alarm keeps going off!
I like to do my times tables in my head to keep my mind off it! And I would like to close my eyes so I cant see or look up at the ceiling , but the nurses think I have fainted so I cant do that either!!
I know it is worth doing though, so I will keep it up, but it doesnt get any easier !!
:o)
I used to give blood all the time ... though I haven't been able to in the last few years for one reason or another. But the next time the bloodmobile is nearby I'm going to do it again :o)
--edit--
correrafan ... you shouldn't take iron pills. I've tried it, and I'm telling you it will turn out badly. Just eat more foods with protein ... fish, chicken, beef for a few days before you go in. They've turned me away before too, and I've found that always works.
can't -always wanted to-but by teh time I was old enoguh and weighed enough-i had chronic helath problems that excluded me....
never...I'm afraid of what might happen if I did because I have a couple health problems, including type 1 diabetes, that I take prescription drugs for
IN 1985 WHEN I WAS IN THE ARMY ON FRIDAY MORNING TO HAVE A 3 DAYS OF THE WEEKEND. AND AFTER THE GULF WAR WE WAS TOLD NOT TO GIVE BLOOD TO NO ONE.
Never. I tried once, 15 years ago, and they turned me away because I have Type 1 Diabetes.

For some blood conditions such as high iron giving blood is a way to reduce iron levels. I have high iron. So it helps thin my blood of iron to give blood. The frequency is that there should be 8 weeks between each donation.
Some things to consider before you give blood are:
Be in good health
Be at least 18 years of age (17 with parental consent)
Weigh at least 110 pounds
Have a valid photo ID with your birth date
Best Wishes.
