Well water tested positve for coliform and iron.. will bleach get rid of both if!
Question: If your well water tested positive for fecal coliform or E. coli, your well has fecal contamination. It probably wouldn't hurt you but it could indicate serious contamination with other organisms. If it was only total coliform, then the water is not fecal contaminated.
Bleach will rid you of the coliform bacteria. They can be treated with chlorination and household bleach can be used. See the link below for details. Another method is by UV filtration.

But bleach can't remove iron from water. You'll need reverse osmosis for this and you can purchase the equipment with cartridge to do the job. Iron may present some concern if certain bacteria have entered a well, since some pathogenic organisms require iron to grow, and the presence of iron particles makes elimination of the bacteria more difficult. You may want to eliminate the iron first. But see the link below.
