I'm 18 and have fibromyalgia. You're not too young to have this. Children are diagnosed with it, although it is most common in women between the ages of 20-50.

No there is nothing you've done wrong, and nothing that you could have done to prevent this. Symptoms typically start to occur after a major traumatic event, mentally or physically. I've been in 3 car crashes, had mono, been raped and sexually assaulted, had multiple surgeries.

I think it's important that you go and see a rheumatologist. They'll be able to diagnoses you.

When you've got a proper diagnosis, you need to learn how to manage your symptoms. I find that it's important to rest when your body tells you to. If I'm tired at 2pm, I'll have a nap. It's hard because I feel guilty about it, but your body is telling you to stop. I don't drink alcohol, caffeine or eat gluten. This can help some people to eliminate symptoms. I'm also going to try and eliminate sugar as well next, then possible try a vegan diet. It's very very difficult, but what ever helps you. Also I was on magnesium suppliments for a few months, I didn't find much help but some people do. My boyfriend has a spa and that really helps. I'm very sensitive to temperature so winters are far worse for me. I find that hot showers are really helpful in the morning to get my joints moving.

Don't fall for those ads on Google that say they can cure fibromyalgia, they're all false. Do your best to manage your symptoms because there isn't a cure. Find what works for you.

Good luck =]

I don't think you can do anything to really prevent such a thing. I believe it is genetic. I would find a specialized doctor to help you further... I'm sorry, good luck =(
