Terminal cancer patient lives how long?!

Question: Someone I know has terminal brain cancer that comes and goes. He is on different treatments. First had radiation and then he started to take pills with a side effect that made him suicidal. He's had it since he was 15. Is all this possible? Also, how long does a patient with terminal brain cancer live?

Well if it's under control you don't have to die from it. But on the other side if the cancer cells are going rapidly the person may die very soon.

depends on how big thte tumor is. my uncle was dead within 6 months

All cancer has the potential to be terminal. With the first incident of cancer, survival is measured in terms of percent of people surviving five years, usually measured per year. With some cancers, relapse lowers those numbers considerably, with others it reduces it down near-0, and with some, a person stands a fighting chance of going back into remission and reaching the five year mark.

It makes terminal hard to define, because a person with cancer can go into remission, relapse five years later, and survive another four years, while a person with the same cancer and stage can receive intensive treatment without success and die in three months. Both technically had the exact same terminal cancer.
