I am not diabetic, but my 2 year old daughter is a type 1 ... so these answers are for her :o)

1. Humalog & Lantus
2. One Lantus in the morning, and Humalog 3x per day, each time before meals
3. 4 units Lantus, 1 unit Humalog in the am, 1 1/2 units of Humalog for lunch and dinner.
4. She's a type 1 diabetic, she would die without it.
5. She has to have the shots.
6. She was diagnosed last November
7. She's had to use insulin since she was diagnosed. Her blood sugars were in the 400 to 600+ range at that time.
8. She gets her insulin with a very fine 31 gauge, short, insulin needle. I'm hoping in the future she will be able to go on an insulin pump.

03. How many units do you use each time? Usually 50-60 at meal times, 50u Lantus at bedtime.
04. Do you feel it is working for you? It depends on how well I stick to my meal and exercise plans.
05. If you don't use shots, what do you do? I used to take Avandia, Metformin, and another drug, but they didn't work because my body doesn't produce insulin.
06. How long have you been diabetic? I was diagnosed at 19. I am 32 now.
07. How long have you been using insulin? Since I was 21.
08. Do you use the standard needles and vial or a pen? Pens
