Question: im goin on holiday in the summer with two gir lfriends of mine who regularly have unprotected sex with boys. they have never been tested although i tell them to! i'm worrying now that if we share towels, razors etc would i catch anything they might have? i dont plan on sharing things like this but it could happen by accident when we're tipsy on holiday!

NEVER share a razor! NEVER. NEVER. NEVER. Pack your own. If one of you uses the same color razor, then use some nail varnish and paint the handle so you know which one is yours. Sharing razors can transmit HIV and viral hepatitides. Even if you're drunk (and lord knows i've been there, too), you should always be able to tell the difference between your razor and someone else's.

Towels aren't a risk for STDs, but you can spread lice and scabies that way, and some skin infections.

If they're your friends, talk to them about their risky behavior. Encourage them to use condoms so that they're safer. If *you're* a good friend you'll be concerned with their well-being. After all, how would you feel if your friends picked up HIV, and you didn't tell them to protect themselves?

I wouldn't share toothbrushes or anything to do with saliva or body fluid. If you think your friends are so nasty, why go with them anywhere and risk it?

Since most STD can't live outside the body for long (that is the reason they are transmitted sexually), you are safe. For other hygiene reasons, I would not share any of the item above as you can get lice, crabs etc. It is always good to have your own towel, razor and toothbrush.

stis don't live that long outside the body. just to be safe and try to keep in mind not to share other people's personal products. u never know what they could have.
