Question: In the movie PANIC ROOM, what was the hand watch of the teenage girl, Sarah, for!?
Was her handwatch used to measure her blood sugar levels!? If yes, how does it work!? Is there such a gadget!? If yes, what brand or pharmaceutical company sells it!?

Answers:
It was called a Glucowatch!. It had sensors that estimated blood glucose levels based on the amount of electron transfer in the interstitial fluid under the skin!. Unfortunately, it wasn't very accurate, it was insanely expensive, and rarely covered by insurance, so they finally took it off the market late last year!.

A much better version of the same technology is being used with insulin pumps that have a continuous glucose monitoring system available as a companion device!. Minimed and a couple of other pump companies now offer it!. It's a separate sensor that is injected under the skin for a few days at a time, and it communicates with the pump to give a "closed-loop" system that acts somewhat like an artifical pancreas!. Insurance companies are slow to cover it, but a few are starting to understand the benefits and some people are getting it through!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Have heard about a newer glucometer which measures your blood sugar levels without pricking!.its based on the principle of ultrasound rays which are reflected back depending on your sugar levels!.have not personally seen this meter!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
