Do you hate Tesco?!

Question: Do you hate Tesco!?
Tesco announced a huge rise in their profits the other day!.

My son has a severe nut allergy - he carries adrenaline with him - and Tesco have a 'defensive labelling' policy!. This means that they put a nut warning on ALL their own brand products - even on Lemonade!!!! to avoid being sued if somebody has a reaction!.

The thing is, they don't stock much branded stuff - just their own chavvy rubbish!.

I think they are a bad company for having this policy!. Why can't they be more aware of their products and any associated allergy risks!? They don't need to label like this - it's a cop out!

What do you think!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
That is not a responsible policy - they should take care of their customers and label foods appropriately, and within reason!. I can understand that they don't want to get sued as it's easy in this day and age, but surely as the largest supermarket they have enough resources to label only the foods concerned with the allergy!. This is a negative policy, it alienates customers and should therefore be addressed with complaint to the Head Office!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

shop in morriston instead!.!.!.!.make your feet do the talkingWww@Answer-Health@Com

yes everytime I go there I spend more and come out with less food compared to Asda and Morrisons!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I hate Tesco, they have such a monopoly on our town, everyone is forced to go there as there is nowhere else that is close enough to be convenient!. I'm sick of them telling me what I can and can't buy, when I can and can't buy it and how I can and can't pay for it!. They suck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

they are the love of my life!. are you sure its on ALL their own brand products!? not just the ones that were made with machines that had previously used nuts!? anyhoo, they have their own free from range with nut free products!.!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I do hate Tesco, but for another reason the I only just found out about recently!. They are selling live turtles that they will literally butcher alive for you to take home and eat!.

Most companies will "cover their backs" can you really blame them!?!?!?!?
I do not think Tesco are alone in this!. Personally I dislike Asda more!
And why is Tesco Chavvy!? I am not being funny but what do you define as "Chavvy rubbish"!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think everyone does the same about that labelling!. If you don't like Tesco, shop elsewhere!. Since their branded goods are 'chavvy rubbish', your son wouldn't eat them anyway, would he!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

i think they are good my doughter loves going thereWww@Answer-Health@Com

Yes I hate Tesco, the staff are very rude and incompetentWww@Answer-Health@Com

I think there are too many litigious ******* out there, and because of this people have to cover their backs (remember McDonald's coffee cups, "Contents may be hot")

It's because of these litigious types that people like you suffer because you don't really know what's got nuts and what hasn't!.

I will defend Tesco's a little though!. They do always say if there are nuts in the recipe, or if it was just made in a factory where nuts are used - that should be enough to allow you to make a sensible decision!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I shop there as it's local for me!.But I sympathise with your problem!.Have you written to Tesco voicing your concerns and anger!?
Also, look out for forums like this where you can chat with others in the same situation:

Personally, I dislike Tesco!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I prefer Sainsburys!. Tescos is for chavs anyway!.!. bit like Asda!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No!. Tesco are a jolly good supermarket!.
You must live near a small branch or maybe a metro, because my Tesco is huge and sells everything, Branded & their own!. Which I might add , is usually just as good as the Brand names, in my honest opinion!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

At our Tesco, the orange Lucozade has disappeared only to be replaced by "Tesco Active" orange which is twice as expensive and twice as skanky!. Why!?!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Food ingredients come through a chain of processing!. Though the final stages factory's might not handle nuts, at some point in the process the factories that created the ingredients that went into the final stage might do!.
If a product uses a number of sources for each of its ingredients and it cannot guarantee that all the factories for all the ingredients are nut free then it has to put on a warning!.
Its big business, they pile it high and sell it cheap!. Your son is a minority group and they don't cater for him!. They cater for fat men called Mr Darren Average with their Ford Focus and 2!.4 children!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

YES I HATE TESCO!!

When I was small I got concusion from slipping on a wet patch, and no sign was up as well as food poisioning from a danish that had egg custard in it which was not refrigerated in store!. My folks never sued or anything, and they're American!.

I also hate them as I work for the Hilton who, being in their marketing dept arrange for stays to be paid for by tesco clubcard points!. TESCO ALWAYS MUCK IT UP AND WE GET THE BRUNT OF IT!!!

And release!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I understand your gripe but if you don't like it shop somewhere else!. I we all voted with our feet and took our business elsewhere when we didn't like something instead of moaning these companies would soon get the message!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Unfortunately we don't have Tesco in Italy would love to be able to shop there!!. However what you say is true, they should know more about the ingredients in their own products!. I know what it's like to be allergic to food!. I have to keep an eye open for anything which contains potatoes! or potato starch!. I noticed this morning that the supermarkets here also put a warning on all their own products - very clever to avoid any legal problem! The Tesco I have shopped in in the UK did have quite a large stock of brands however!. Have you ever thought about bringing this up to the local Managing Director level!? or even nationwide level it is quite a serious observation I think and should be addressed by Tesco Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

One of my friends has the same problem, it really sucks and has mentioned this to me before, So what he does now is shop at Waitrose (if you have one close) as the labelling of products is very clear they tell you whats in it on the racking label :-) Oh and the quality of products is Top of the line com paired to Chav shops like tescos that only care about profit!.!.!.!

Regards
BenWww@Answer-Health@Com

Yes I hate Tescopoly!.

Why don't we all do what they have done in the town of Martin in Hampshire!?

http://www!.dailymail!.co!.uk/pages/live/ar!.!.!.

As for the allergy thing, they will do anything to cover their backsides, but that is true of all companies!. Tescos treats its customers as badly as it treats its staff!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I totally agree with you!. I am not impressed at all by tesco either, as I had a piece of cardboard in one of their supposedly freshly frozen battered fish fillets, I complained and did what they asked and took it back to them!. They said that they would look into the matter, and get back to me on the matter!. This took about three months, after much chasing!. However they never recompensed me, nor any apology!. I will in future take things like that to trading standards!.

Their products are very Chavvy, and not of good quality at all!.
This is the problem of such a huge uncaring Company who is just playing the numbers game!.

What is one customer to them!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Given the number of people who are willing to sue manufacturers and suppliers, it is understandable that they will seek to protect themselves by putting a warning on the goods!. Litigation is fantastically expensive and Joe Public could never pay the supermarket's costs if/when it wins!. There is no justification for the Supermarket's shareholders to bear the cost!. It is more economical for them the use the warning labels - even 'over-the-top' labels - and risk losing your business!. It is an unfortunate consequence of the blame and litigation culture!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
