Can anyone help us to get rid of ringworms?!
Question: Can anyone help us to get rid of ringworms!?
My 7 year old son has contracted ringworms in his scalp and on his back and stomach!. The doctors couldn't prescribe an oral med to heal him for fear of kidney damage!. Does anyone have any suggestions of how we can naturally get rid of them!? I've tried selsun blue and there is an ointment the doc gave us, but there has to be something that will help my little man!. Please help!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Selsun Blue "Medicated," or the Nizoral OTC shampoos can be helpful!.
I typically suggest that the child wash their hair and WHOLE BODY with Selsun Blue at night!. Then!.!.!.!.wash off, and towel dry hair until just slightly damp!. Apply a light amount of Selsun Blue to the hair and massage into the scalp and allow to dry overnight!. Wash off the next morning!. This typically does the trick!.
In really BAD cases with kids, I've used a suspension called "Griseofulvin!." It comes in 125 mg!./5 ml!. and the recommended dose is 11 mg/kg by mouth, once daily for about 4-6 weeks!. The reason the doctors probably don't want to go this route is that they are bound to draw blood on him in about 3-4 weeks to check his LIVER enzymes (not a kidney issue), to verify safety!.

I had it once!. I went online and looked up home remedies!. The one I used was putting bleach on it!. I wouldn't reccommend it for your son though!. Check out the internet!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Keep using the Selsum Blue medicated twice a day as a body/hair scrum and the athlete's foot cream!. It takes several days and almost constant application of the cream, but eventually it will go away!. Make sure you keep using the cream for 5 days after the rash disappears or else you will keep getting it!. The ointment I put on every 2 hours to start with and it makes a huge difference within 1-2 days!.
Make sure you wash his bedding (ALL OF IT) in hot water with bleach to kill the spores and make sure to vacuum the car seat and sofa constantly and then throw out the bag frequently - do a really thorough clean 5 days after the rash disappears and then throw out the bad and wash everything you can in hot water with bleach!.

for his scalp your doctor should give you a perscription for 2% ketoconazole shampoo which you would use on his hair, shampoo it in and leave for 10 minutes then rinse it out!. You can't buy the 2% version without a perscription but you can get a 1% version called Nizoral at a drug store!.
For his back and stomach lotrimin or a generic brand of it would be your best bet!.
Also because the ringworm isn't really a worm but a fungus you should make sure and change his shirt and pjs daily and wash his bed linens or he will spread it to other parts of his body!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
