Medical Self-diagnosis via internet is ridiculous. There's a reason a doctor!

Question: Medical Self-diagnosis via internet is ridiculous!. There's a reason a doctor trains for 8 years!?
More of a statement than a question I suppose!. But does anyone else agree with me that too much information in inexperienced minds is a bad thing!. I noticed a pitting on my nails and thought I'd check the internet for advice!.!.!. five minutes later I realise it could be cancer, blood disease, lymphetic sarcoma, brain rinse, cheese epiphany!. But thankfully it turned out I was using an abraisve washing up liquid! Luckily I don't really care about my fingernails, but for something more serious this over-information could really f*ck me up!! Who agrees with me!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I most definitely agree with you!. Too much medical information in the wrong/uninformed hands is a very dangerous thing!.
Even doctors will tell you, when you hear hoof beats, think horses not zebra's!.
Of course you know that pitting on the fingernails is also a sign of heavy metal poisoning!!! ( not the music kind either)!. Just thought you might like to know that!.!.!.!.you never can be too careful!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Very true!. I just posted a question (and searched the internet as well) about how to make my chest feel better!. My daughter banged her head into my ribs last week and it hurts to take a deep breath, and I'm getting info that says I might have lung cancer, and all kinds of life threatening diseases!. It's enough to freak anyone out!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Most people dont believe what people tell them!.!.!. like myself!.!. I might ask a question!.!.Im not going to take there diagnosis as the final result but just an idea of what could be wrong!.!.and i always check with a physician!.!.!.so if you actually sit up here and believe "information in inexperienced minds " you are a fool!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I agree---yet, I still want to be able to look up things on the internet---if my doctor tells me what I have then I can look at information about it!. For example, she told me that my cholesterol was way too high and that I needed to be on statins!. So I went home and looked up the benefits and side effects of statins---and guess what!? I decided to look for natural remedies to help me lower my cholesterol because I didn't like the side effects of statins!.!.!.!.!.so now my cholesterol is back in check without statins and I am glad that I have this research tool---but, I still agree that there is too much out there-we cannot diagnose ourselves just by the symptoms!.!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i agree!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Anyone who relies on the info they get on this (or many other) sites is a FOOL!! They whole idea of the site is to give suggestions & general info, often from experience!.!.IT IS NOT MEANT TO TAKE THE PLACE OF SEEKING A DOCTOR'S ADVICE!!!! I look at it as usually a confirmation that seeking professional advice is the right thing to do!. Taking it too seriously or as gospel is a huge mistake!. !.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
