Not having a medical background, but as an engineer, cancer survivor and interested party, I would say one definite area for managing cancer would be in the area of gene silencing technology!.
As you may know certain genes control the growth cycle of all cells!. They provide the initiation to commence cell growth, stop cell growth, multiply etc!.!.!. Most cancers occur when these cells start to grow uncontrollably due to incorrect messages from genes!. Being able to identify, target and silence the specific genes that give these mixed messages and stop cell growth would go a long way into managing cancer!. There are a number of companies conducting detailed studies into this area at the moment both in the US and Australia!.
The other are is nano-robotics, where by microscopic robots could be trained to seek and destroy specific cancerous cells in the body!. This is a very real possibility, with on going advancements in nano technology, which could be used in medical applications!.
Note, that both these options I've indicated as very real possibilities to be able to manage and treat cancer!. Curing cancer is probably another totally different scenario!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are many folks who claim to have a lead on this within the less orthodox areas of medicine!.
Dr Hulda Clark published her book 'The Cure for All Cancers' a while back -- and runs a Mexican clinic where many folks are SAID to have been cured! (Although equally there are numerous criticisms of her work and claims)!. Her theories seem to be around parasites causing cancer, and the suggestion that certain frequencies can be used to 'zap' them internally!. I'm not a fan of this theory as the explanation of all cancers!.!.!.although it may be that some 'parasite like' things are a trigger in the sequence of things that may be responsible for cancers (e!.g!. Dr Rob Young is the leading light in the Alkalization and Alkaline lifestyle approach!. He would basically say that all disease (including cancers of course) is basically down to the system being over acidic!. Modern lifestyle -- such as wrong foods, stress, chemical exposures (through various means in air, food and body products) all cause 'acid' build up!. Acidity causes cells to go into a protective mode and can result in the process that becomes cancer!. BUT
Dr Bruce Lipton is an interesting guy to look up -- as a cell biologist he suggests that (in a nutshell) it is the action between cells (which he explains) have their 'brains' in their membranes so to speak!. They sense environmental changes and certain signals may cause the receptors to instruct cells to 'activate' faulty DNA resulting in cancer (or other illness)!. Thus it is down to the environment!.!.!.BUT more complex than this it is the 'perception' of the 'adversity' of environment that he suggests is KEY!. If we perceive that we are in a bad environment the 'brain' can override the cells natural mechanisms and cause them to 'go wrong'!. This means that Stress is a major culprit in being at the root of many illnesses including cancer!.!.!.
(NOTE: Lipton's work is important because it suggests that Genes per se are NOT the cause of cancer!.!.!.the potential may be there but will not happen UNLESS you are in a 'toxic' environment - THAT IS if your brain is telling your cells that the environment is such that they should 'switch' on the cancer causing DNA/genetic potential you may develop cancer!.!.!.if you make efforts to change your environment, and change he way you 'perceive' the environment the 'switch' will never be turned on!.!.!. Genes do NOT express themselves without the necessary signal from the environment)
So that is strike 2 for Stress -- so to speak!.
Dr Simonicini in Italy has treated many cancer patients (apparently) successfully with Sodium Bicarbonate (alkaline of course! See Young above) which he uses to flush cancerous tumours which then shrink quickly an disappear!.!.!.Now this may seem farcical at a glance -- BUT he does have quite a bit or 'recorded proof' of success!.!.!.HE suggests that the MAJOR cause of cancerous growth of cells is Candida albicans!.!.!.the yeast that causes yeast infections/thrush!. This is interesting because (1) Candida is an opportunistic 'parasite' that lives in all of us without causing problems to most people UNLESS their systems go out of kilter!.!.!.to be precise they lose their 'good bacteria' (typically the Lactic acid bacteria - Lactobacillus family) which protect the lining of our gut and other moist warm places like the vagina!. When this good bacteria gets killed off (as it does when we take a course of broad spectrum anti-biotics) then Candida can begin to thrive!.!.!.and it can be tough to get on top of!. (2) Worse still when Candida overgrowth occurs and infects the guts it can cross the membrane (cause leaky gut syndrome) into the blood and infest almost any part of the body!.
