This is called Leukonychia and is usually caused by trauma to the nail!. If the spots are on all of your nails and have lasted for several months it is most likely a zinc or protein deficiency, NOT a calcium deficiency!. A dermatologist should be seen if you are really concerned!.

It's a sign of lack of calcium!. Drink more milk, and they should go away!. I have them on my thumb nail, because I don't drink enough milk!.

ok its either lack of calcium or wen you hit your nail against something then it will cause a little white mark and you have to grow it all the way out!. the guy below me said drink milk and cheese and stuff but dont! it will just drain from your bones!. calcium from cows milk is so bad for you its meant for cows not humans!. orange juice and soy milk have an equal amount of calcium, try that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

White spots on the nail have nothing to do with diet!. They are the result of trauma to the nail bed!. Think of them like bruises!. They just don' show up as fast as bruises because they can take days or weeks to show up after the nail bed trauma because they have to grow out!.
Sometimes you cat get white spots from a reaction to polishes, hardeners, acrylic nails, glues etc!.

you probably like bent it!. when i accidently bend my finger nail it leaves a white spot and then it grows out!. right now i havthree little white spots!. It usually hurts when you bend it!.
