What's the difference between a STAPH infection, and an insect bite? PLEASE !

Question: What's the difference between a STAPH infection, and an insect bite!? PLEASE answer!?
Hi!.

My brother has these red lumps on his neck, his leg, and stomach area!. They're red, swollen-ish, and itchy!. Do you think it could be staph!?

He went in the woods yesterday with his friends (7 people), and NONE of them got what he was now!. So!.!.!. can it really be spider bites!?

But then again, Staph is going around pretty quick (they've had warnings here) in the maryland area!. There was a kid in his school who had it so!.!.!. =/

Can anyone PLEASE tell me if I have anything to worry about!? How do we know for sure if it's Staph!?

Thank you SO SO SO SO much!

**He's 13 going on 14 if that makes a difference!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Staph isn't really itchy, and you wouldn't normally suddenly break out in tons of staph infections like that!

He is probably allergic to something in the woods, which is why he was the only one who got this!. It was probably something he touched!. Some insect bites, even, cause reactions in certain people but not others!. (But it definitely isn't spider bites, spiders rarely bite!.)

You shouldn't worry about this unless it doesn't go away in about a week!. The problem with staph is that it can take forEVER to go away, which is how you'd know he had it!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi there, staph is not really itchy, it hurts more and you'd run a fever and be really sick!. He probably got into something in the woods, maybe poison ivy!? poison oak!? maybe bug bites, black flies are known for biting without people knowing it!.

Have him try something like calamine lotion to stop the itch, soak in oatmeal baths, take benedryl to help the itch and swelling!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

sounds to me like chiggers!. They are a small insect that latches on to your hairs all over your body and injects a goo into and lives off it!. Go to walgreens and get chiggerex if it isWww@Answer-Health@Com

this is what doctors r 4Www@Answer-Health@Com

It could also be poison ivy being he was in the woods!. If it was an insect bite, he'd have just one red area, not a bunch of bumps on different places on his body!. It could be a staph infection, but it doesn't sound like he's had an illness lately so it really doesn't sound like a staph infection - and it wouldn't have shown up that quick!. He should be seen by a doctor and in the meantime you can put calamine lotion on it and most certainly don't touch it yourself because poison ivy is contagious even by touch!. Make sure you all wash your hands thoroughly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Staphylococcal (staph) infections are communicable conditions caused by certain bacteria and generally characterized by the formation of abscesses!. They are the leading cause of primary infections originating in hospitals (nosocomial infections) in the United States!.

Staph infections produce pus-filled pockets (abscesses) located just beneath the surface of the skin or deep within the body!. Risk of infection is greatest among the very young and the very old!.

A localized staph infection is confined to a ring of dead and dying white blood cells and bacteria!. The skin above it feels warm to the touch!. Most of these abscesses eventually burst, and pus that leaks onto the skin can cause new infections!.

A small fraction of localized staph infections enter the bloodstream and spread through the body!. In children, these systemic (affecting the whole body) or disseminated infections frequently affect the ends of the long bones of the arms or legs, causing a bone infection called osteomyelitis!. When adults develop invasive staph infections, bacteria are most apt to cause abscesses of the brain, heart, kidneys, liver, lungs, or spleen!.

so not a insect bit in short lool!.!.!.dnt worryWww@Answer-Health@Com
