Question: How do I tell my mom!?
That I want to get tested for sexually transmitted diseases!? I want to because a friend of mines sister in law died from aids at the age of 19!.!. I don't want that to be me!.!.Even though I'm not sexually active I just want to be on the safe side!. What should I do!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think that's a very mature thing to do and it's a shame there's not more people like you out there - there wouldn't be such a bad STD epidemic if everyone got tested and treated!
As for telling your mum - I would tell her exactly what you just wrote there if I were you!. I'm sure if she is a reasonable person she will understand and be thankful that she has such a responsible child!. There is always the option of doing it without your mum knowing, but I think it's good you want her to and I think she'll understand!. It is possible to pick up some STD's without sexual contact, and for your own peace of mind it is a good idea to get tested!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I wouldn't worry too much about getting tested if u are not sexually active in any way!. But if you just want to go!.!.!.tell her!. she might get a suspicion that u are sexually active for asking!. But, when you do decide to be, you should go get checked once a month to be safe!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you already get yearly checkups at the gynecologist!.!. It's not likely your mother goes in with you!.!. ask when you go there!. The Dr will be happy to add the test to your checkup to ease your mind
If all you get is a yearly immunizations and your mother DOES NOT leave the room - then you have to find another way - like the health department!.

u can go with a friend or raltive that drives!. u don't have to tell your mom if u don't want to but it might be a good idea to let her know the results!. if your not sexually active then there shouldn't be too much to worry about but it would be good to know!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
You don't need to tell your mom!. Medical information is confidential!. Your doctor cannot release any of the info to anyone other than you!. Just make a Dr!. appt and let them know you'd like to be tested for STD's!. Your mother does not need to be in the room with you!. There is really no reason to worry her or have her overreact if nothing is wrong!. IF you do, however, test positive, then you should tell her!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
