Answers:
The new range is 0!.3 to 3!.0, technically!. So you'd be considered normal!. Dr!. Richard Shames says some people really need to get down to 0!.5 or even 0!.3 before they feel right (especially if they exhibit hair loss, as I recall)!.

Some people talk about ESS (euthyroid sick syndrome), meaning their thyroid appears normal in tests, but they exhibit hypothyroid symptoms!. For example, you T4 levels could be OK, but rT3 or poor conversion could cause low T3 levels!. I would pay more attention to symptoms (e!.g!., low temperature, hair loss, weight gain, fatigue, depression) than blood tests!.

BTW, the AACE (national endocrinology assoc!.) has revised this range downward *twice* in the past 10 yrs or so, and some labs are not using the latest range numbers I show above!.

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, this is normal, however if the test was done in the afternoon you need to retest!. TSH is highest in the morning and lowest around 2PM!. If you think you have a thyroid problem, get retested!. This time also have a free t4, free t3, and an antibody test in addition to the TSH!. It must be done first thing i the morning!.

A TSH of 1!.2 if a morning test is a perfect reading!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
