Yard sales, bake sales!. Does anyone do any crafts that they can sell!? Car washes!. If you know any teachers, they usually have tons of fund raising resources, and most of their programs can be used by the general public!.
Church or civic groups!.
Talk to local businesses about change jars and donations for the yard/bake sales!.
Talk to the local news!. They have a ton of resources!.
Post fliers for your events or whatever anywhere you can think of!.!. the local post office, grocery stores, some of the casual eat in places have bulletin boards as well!. College campuses are a great place to post fliers!. You can stick them in windows at parking lots, but you may want to get permission first!. Some areas have ordinances against that!.

Give out educational info about bone marrow transplants!. I love to talk about the stem cell side of things, but depending on where you are you may want to leave that out, or just put it in the educational info, dont have any of your main ads say anything about stem cells!.!. there is still a lot of miseducation out there, and I get called a baby killer atleast once a week!.
But, put interesting info in the materials, like the chimera stuff!. Most people think thats just tv!. Wikipedia has some good info on that if you are not familur!. Basically after transplant his blood will have the dna of his donor, not his!. If his donor is a diff blood type, his blood type will change!. People feel more compelled to give after they have just learned something new and interesting!.
His hematologist should have plenty of educational materials, and I think!? you can order free material either from the National Marrow Donors Program or the LLS
Also, if you can get his hospital to give an estimate of the costs broken down, that would be great, like perhaps an anon itemized bill from what a typical patient would have!. People feel more compelled to give when they know exactly what the costs are!. And most people have NO idea the cost of transplant!. I mean the blood bank services alone for mine were more than the last 3 years of treatment, much less the long hosp stay, all the needed meds, and all that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The first thing that you need to do is get together with your friends and family to brainstorm some ideas!. If there is something that you are good at, do it, some examples would be; do a marathon in his name, a poker tournament, or just a dinner!.!.!. talk to local businesses and have them donate so that you can maximize your profit! Many times you can start one in a church!. Like benefit singing and raising funds!. 2!. You can put the jars in public places with brief story on them!.Only where they can be monitored!. Good places are right next to checkout counters in stores!. 3!.You can stand outside of stores and ask for donations yourself!. Make sure you have a nice setup and information incase someone has questions!. 4!. You can set up an online page dedicated to this cause, invite friends, friends of friends, family, coworkers, etc to visit the page!. Make sure you set up a system to recieve the funds, like online deposit to a bank!. 5!. Set up a P!.O!. Box for funds to be delivered there!. This keeps your address private!. 6!. Put ads in your local newspaper, surrounding counties newspaper!. Contact your local newspaper office and ask them if they could do a story on this with your info of how they can send or bring funds to you or put them in an accout!. 7!.Hand out some flyers!. Most of the time people with just trash them, but it would be worth it if just one said yes!. Who knows someone may just give you a large amount!. But just be creative and work hard at it!. You can go to his school or his parish!. They just had a fundraiser for a child in our community!. They sold tickets and had the fundraiser in the church!. People had donated gift baskets of all sorts and once in the church, the guests bought raffle tickets for each basket that they were trying to win!. Some of the stores in the area donated baskets, like choclolate baskets, gift basket for two with dinner items in it, gourmet items, my sister and her friends who are teachers put together a children's book basket!. They had made a substantial amount of money on this!. Tell you brother in law, better days are ahead!. I just completed a bone marrow transplant where my sister was the donor about 6 months ago!.
