Question: Could this really be the cure!?
on yahoo it told me that a cure for diabetes and very over weight people is the gastric bypass surgery,why then did they tell us with diabetes about,it's for people with type 1,2 diabetes

Type 2 is when the body makes not enough insulin, or applies it inappropriately!.
My sister has always been overweight!. A couple of years ago she developed type 2!. In her case she was making an insufficient amount of insulin to manage her appetite and intake!. Six months ago she had a gastric bypass and while it's much too early to call this a cure, she has been med free for 5 months, and was given the green light to put away the BG monitoring kit two months ago!.
It's definitely not a cure!. Just a small step!. And it would only be successful with certain type 2 criteria!.

Don't get your hopes up!.!.!.yahoo isnt always right!. Notice how they said possible cure!? While this procedure may be the answer for some diabetics, it may not be compatible with others!. This is bullshit!.!.!.!.which fool has given you that idea!? It's not possible to cure diabetis either type 1 or type 2 by any means!. And about gastric bypass surgery!.!.!.do you think it's just a simple surgery!? It's a very complicated one and have many adverse effects and even there is chance of getting stomach cancer from it!. We usually think about gastric bypass for patient who have no other alternative for patient with gastric carcinoma or a very big gastric ulcer!.sometimes it's just a palliative surgery ; specially when it is done for gastric carcinoma which have spereded !.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I haven't heard of it but if its a chance that it would cure it and no more shots, no more worries, no more checking 4-5 times scared to death about my baby girl then I would love it!. But would want proff!. And wouldn't be the first test dummy per say!. You know!? She is type 1 and she hates it and it scares me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

This is by NO means a cure!. I cannot believe they even wrote an article like that!. It's a bandaid for someone who has a broken bone!. Diet and exercise would help just as much as this surgery and be much healthier!. I am guessing doctors and insurance companies are looking for ways to work this into policies so they can get paid and perform more surgeries and prescribe more meds!.

Over half of us type 2 peoples are not obese or even overweight!!! Gastric Bypass would not work for us!! Nor would it work for type 1 peoples who do not make any insulins at all!. And most of them have a problem maintaining a good weight, they just can't gain!!

It is not a cure for diabetes and they are NOT calling it one!. They are saying it is a good way to help severely overweight diabetics to lose weight!. The bypass can help diabetics lose weight and help improve their health!. But it is not a cure and they are not calling it that!. They also are recommending the lap band!. Being diabetic and having to take insulin makes it harder to lose weight!. Even if you don't take insulin, diabetes can cause weight gain!. 51% of people with type 2 were not over weight before they were diagnosed with type 2!. overweight people with early onset Type II diabetes can be "cured" with gastric bypass, they can also be "cured" with diet and exercise!. You should not try this without consulting you GP and endocrinologist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
