Our 2 yr old has a rash on his right arm!. It is largest on the forearm, but starts at his shoulder and goes down to his wrist!. It is red clusters of bumps!. He has had it for a little over a month!. The doctor that he saw told us that it was "normal" and that a lot of children get these types of rashes!.
should we get a second opinion or just continue to watch it!? Could it be shingles even if he has been vaccinated for chicken pox!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

If it is my 2 year old, I would probably get a second opinion and make sure it is from a pediatrician!. A general practicioner isn't as "in tune" with children as adult and child symptoms can be a LOT different (I had a GP misdiagnose my child and she would have died if I hadn't received a 2nd opinion)!. I don't think it is life-threatening, but make sure you have a pediatrician tell you what the diagnosis IS!. To say "it is a rash" isn't enough!.!.!. you know that already!. Seems to me any rash my kids have had (3 of them) hasn't really lasted for more than a week or 2!. I'm not sure if the doc recommended aveeno cream, or maybe a benadryl cream, sometimes that helps!. But if it were shingles, they run along the nerve lines, and build up like on a house (thus the name)!. They typically last a week or so and begin to reduce!. They are also VERY painful for most people!. Ask if it itches, if it burns, is it sensitive to sunlight!? Questions like that can be important, or just questions (especially for a 2 year old!)!.
I would try a small spot of benedryl cream and see if there is a difference, but gather as much info as you can and get a second opinion!.
Hope that is some help to you!Www@Answer-Health@Com

A month a a long time for a rash!. I would see a dermatologist for a second opinion!. It will give you peace of mind as well as a possible treatment option!. It doesn't sound serious!. Yes, you can get shingles!. Vaccination just lessens the symptoms if exposed to chicken pox but may not prevent it!. Shingles is just reactivation of the virus from a hidden nerve!. Your rash doesn't sound like "shingles" but a dermatologist would know the answer!. I hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
