Question: Can someone tell me the answer, medical prof!. or cancer patients!.!.!.!?
If u have leukemia can your first CBC show up normal even if you show most symptoms and then a later one show high WBC and low RBC counts!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
Answers:
Yes!. It's always possible to miss the diagnosis of leukemia!. It does depend on whether or not the available labs done were able to detect it!. One should always check the peripheral blood smear, even with a normal CBC!.
Marked leukocytosis and the presence of immature WBCs, especially blasts in the peripheral blood smear should make one suspect leukemia and therefore warrants further investigations (bone marrow aspiration/biopsy, flow cytometry, cytogenetics, etc!.) to confirm this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, unless they test you before the symptoms occur!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
If you are truly symptomatic, it is unlikely that a CBC would be normal if you have a leukemia!. It is true, however, that some leukemia patients do not have elevated WBC as a manifestation of their disease but could have some problems!. However, they are likely to have other problems showing up on the CBC as well (like low RBC, low PLT)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
