Answers:
hey I was diagnosed two months ago!. They know why I have ms and how to slow it but don't know what causes it!. I've heard many different reasons!. All from a virus you contract when your younger, living farther from the equator or living a highly acidic lifestyle!. All in all they have no clue!. Kinda like why do we get headaches!? Who knows but excedrin seems to work!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

1) they're holding out for more $$$

2) they're not getting enuff $$$ from washington to fund researchWww@Answer-Health@Com

I was diag!. with it last year, I take alternative meds, and mostly ignore it, I exercise, and carry on like no one told me about it, because I am gonna get it, before it gets me!. and I have not had any bad problems yet!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

We are constantly learning more about MS!. MS is an autoimmune disease!. The genetics part is that a parent may pass on the predisposition for an autoimmune disease to their child!. Doesn't mean the predisposition will be passed on!. Doesn't mean that if the predisposition is passed on that anything (like a virus) will ever trigger the autoimmune response!.

That being said, if you have a family member with MS you have a higher chance of developing it than someone without MS in the family!. But again, doesn't mean you will!. One relative having it, you have about 1-3% chance!. I have two relatives (mom and maternal aunt) so I had about 10% chance!.

Here's a easy to understand article http://www!.medicinenet!.com/multiple_scle!.!.!.
I also like the "MS for Dummies" book!. For me MS was the devil I knew what with my mom having it!. But the book was a good reference for my husband!. Plus there were tips I hadn't heard of or thought about!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Because there is a difference between "cause" and "symptom"!. That is: A medicin that slows the progress of the disease is aimed at the symptoms of the disease, not at the ultimate cause (whatever that may be)!.

The many factors pointed to by researcher suggest to me this is not a disease with one single cause - rather it's a combination of many!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
