Question for people in the medical field?!

Question: Question for people in the medical field!?
My grandmother has been very sick and in the hospital since Feb!. The docs could not find out what was wrong with her!. Yesterday they finally had the answer,C-diff!. My family has been feeding her, holding a bucket for her to throw up in, wiping her mouth, etc!. Nobody ever told us to suit up or wear gloves!. They told us yesterday we needed to do this!. For over a month we have all been exposed to c-diff!. Could we have caught this!? If so can we be tested!? will my grandmother always be contagious!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
C Diff is a bacteria that grows in your stomach normally!. When people are given antibiotics, it usually kills off the "good" bacteria in your stomach and intestines and allows CDiff to over-grow and take over!.

She'll have nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain along with some fevers and dehydration/nutrition issues!.

Ironically, you have to give antibiotics to cure CDiff!. Depending on how severe it is, she will be getting either Flagyl by mouth, or Vancomycin!.

Yes it is very contagious, and you should be doing good hand-washing techniques anytime you are near her or anything she puked/pooped on or touched!.

She won't be contagious forever, the recent guidelines are saying that once the diarrhea and nausea/vomiting stop, she isn't contagious!.

I wouldn't get tested for CDiff unless you start having nausea, vomiting, diarrhea!.

But wash wash wash!Www@Answer-Health@Com
