Answers:
No, lactose intolerance causes indigestion and gas!. And it cannot cause coughing and phlegm!.

If your step-dad has a chronic cough that doesn't go away for many days or weeks!. Then he may have some serious illness such as a TB infection, or lung cancer, or heart failure!. And he should go for a medical check-up!.

But if he had this cough only for a short time!. Then it may be something a lot less serious, such as a common cold that will go away on its own in a few days!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, it might be!. Dairy is really bad for sinus problems and allergies!. It causes mucus to build up!. Since I cut dairy out of my diet completely, my allergies are a thousand times better!. I use to get chronic sinus infections and it was awful!. I would NEVER go back to dairy now that I know how good I feel without it!. Your stepdad should try cutting back or just eliminating dairy from his diet for awhile and see how it goes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Probably not unless he happens to be allergic to milk products and that is easy to tell by just eliminating all dairy for a few days!. An Old wives tales is that milk makes Phlegm but it really doesn't unless you are allergic to it!. What it does is thicken the mucous you already have in your system!. Mucous is our bodies way of protecting our tissues!. My guess would be that he is getting acid relux which causes Phlegm!. He might try taking a Pepcid before he goes to bed and see if that helps cut down on it!. If the acid is coming back up the Phlegm(Mucous) is accumulating trying to do its job of protecting!. It is hard to tell where it is coming from!. It could also be coming from accumulated post nasal drip so he might try saline nasal spray!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No!. Lactose intolerance means you can't digest the sugar in dairy products!. It causes more gut symptoms (bloating and discomfort)!.
Coughing at night is more a sign of lung symptoms, and your step dad should see his doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

agreed with above, lactose intolerance is in regards to digestion!.!.!.but you could be allergic to dairy, there is a difference

and nick, very doubtful, based just on that little information, to say her stepdad has TB or lung Ca!.!.!.!.LOL

have your stepdad go see his docWww@Answer-Health@Com
