Answers:
It is most likely that the callous is developing & remaining despite your efforts because there is a defect in your foot!. Get checked by a podiatrist!. They are able to suggest ways to alleviate pressures thru the use of orthotics or different types of footwear!. After surgery to repair a bunion, I found that a callous I had fought all my life gradually diminished due to the foot being in correct alignment!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

lotion and a pumice stoneWww@Answer-Health@Com

A podiatrist can take care of it for you, since it is in an awkward spot!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Put a big band aid over it and get a size bigger shoe!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sounds like it might be a planter wart, and not a callas!.

Try to use some Compound W, the Freeze-Off stuff or go to a doctor to get it removed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If it hurts that bad, you might actually have plantar warts!. Are there any black spots in/on the callous!? You might want to go to the doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The best thing to try to do is soften it up with some tea tree oil, and possibly foot creme!. If you have any of those awesome socks that keep the moisture in, wear it at night with the creme, and then it should be less hard!. And I've never heard of the skin coming back after you file it down, it probably just rehardens haha!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

maybe you should go to the doctor, it might not be a callous, it may be a plantar wartWww@Answer-Health@Com

Are you sure it's not a wart!? I had something like that, and it was a certain type of wart called a plantar wart!.
Plantar warts are found on the soles of the feet, and can be extremely painful!.
Mine was white and soft when wet!. It contained strange tiny brown specks!. Heh!.!.!.
I had it removed by the doctor (painful!)!. But unfortunately it came back!!! Ahh!!!
So I got a razor and cut it out myself (basically what he did!.!.)!. Once it scabbed over or whatever!.!.!. I bought wart removal (in a tube like chap stick) at the drug store, and put it on it everyday and covered it with a new bandaid!.
After a short while there was no wart, and not even a noticeable scar!. I would advise on not trying to cut it out yourself!.!.!. although that worked for me!.

Sorry for the disgusting story!

TREATMENT:
Over the counter medications can remove warts!. I would suggest filing down the wart when it is wet!. Surgical removal is also an option!. There are available cushioning pads for your feet that can be found at drug stores to relieve the pressure caused by the wart!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
