Question: DOCTOR SAYS TO STAY POSITIVE 2 HELP MY SEVERE FIBROMYALGIA!what!?!?!?!?
I just came back from my appt!. w/ my Rhume doctor, he has diagnosed me w/ SEVERE Fibromyalgia, and says that the best thing for the pain is to, ge this, STAY POSITIVE!!! What kind of f***ing answer is that!?!?!? Does any1 have better methods, because to stay positive is the worst answer I have heard yet!.!.!. I am positive, however, it's pretty damn hard when you live in CHRONIC SEVERE PAIN EVERYDAY OF YOUR LIFE!!!! He did place me on Flexril (cyclobenzaprine), however, these don't work as I know from previous experience!.!.!.
Anyone know of any meds that have helped you with the severe pain!?!? I know that docs get concerned about the addiction part of prescribing narcotics, but they work!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have had Fibromyalgia for over 25 years and I know how difficult it can be!. There are several medications that can help with the pain: Zanaflex (similar to Flexeril but works better for me), Lyrica, some low dose anti depressants help with sleep which is a major contributing factor in Fibromyalgia!. During flares I have taken Vicodin and Valium at times!.

I also get physical therapy 2-3 times a year and they massage and work out the knots, use ultrasound and have given me a TENS unit which also helps with my pain!.

For a while it was so bad that I went to a pain clinic and was put on Methadone!. I attended an Intensive Chronic Pain Program that included education, relaxation, exercises in a hot pool and gentle exercises on land!. I was able to go off the Methadone after that program!.

However now I have had 3 surgeries in the last 7 months and the Fibro is out of control again, so I will probably go back on Methadone for a while until I am strong enough to start exercising again!.

I have included in the source area two links that can help you locate a pain clinic in your area!. Pain clinics can offer you a lot of other alternatives including narcotics than most doctors are comfortable doing!.

I hope this helps! I know what you are going through as I fight my way through it every day myself!.

Nearly every pain therapy that exists has been tried with fibromyalgia, and nearly every conceivable treatment has worked for at least some people, so finding an effective treatment seems to be trial and error!. For the most part, nothing works perfectly, but some treatments seem to knock it into remission at least for a while!. About half the time, a combination of tramadol and acetaminophen works as well as any other pain medication!. Some people have excellent results with massage therapy, stretching, and aerobic exercise!. Anntidepressants and related drugs are also effective in some people - not because they are depressed, but the drugs seem to reduce the threshold where the brain registers an impulse as pain!. Some people also find some relief by taking a mineral supplement containing calcium, magnesium, and zinc with meals!. Just as there are laws in the physical, (the world we see), that say a one hundred thousand ton aircraft carrier can float or a one hundred ton jet can fly, but only with the proper knowledge, there are also laws in the spiritual, (the world we don't see), that a person can use to eliminate Aids, MS, malaria, heart disease, cancer, blindness!.!.!.etc!. from their body!. http://www!.sheep2lion!.com/ will help you obtain the knowledge about those laws and more!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
