Has Hypermobility stopped you from standing up or walking?!

Question: Has Hypermobility stopped you from standing up or walking!?
My daughter has hypermobility!. It is more severe in her lower body, her hips have been dislocated since birth (DDH) and her knees and ankles also dislocate!. She has never been able to weightbare as the legs just colapse and I can hear and feel the bones all crunching, clunking and popping out of place!.

She is currently in a hip Spica for her DDH, but the consultant is worried that the hypermobility will make stabilising her hips more difficult!.

She is now 19 months old!.
We do not know when, or even if, Olivia will be able to walk!.

Does anyone know of other children with hypermobility that have not been able to weightbare!?

Have they grown up able to walk or are they wheelchair bound!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I know LOADS of youngsters with hypermobilty sydrome including my daughter though hers i8s less severe than your daughters!. Most of the ones I know I got to know as both my children have a chronic pain condition called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, and hypermobility just happens to be a symptom many of them suffer from!. Most lead fairly normal lives some have been on crutches or in wheelchairs for short spells, two are permanently wheelchair bound but that is partially due to other complications!. One is actually in her national athletics squad for disabled athletes and is aiming at the 2012 paralympics!. I wish I say she will be absolutely fine but I guess no one knows yet, but I do know that she can still achieve great things - good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
