Question: Insulan pump decision (diabetics only)!?
which pump would you choose between the cozmo and meditronic!.!.!.minimed 722!?
which seems the easiest to use/understand!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
i use minimed!.!.!.always have!. i would never choose anything over minimed!. they are so easy to use!. i know someone who switched insulin pumps, and she said she loved the minimed and wished she could go back!.!.!.but you have to wait a certain amount of time til you can get a new pump!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

umm i would say talk to ur dr or a dr who specializes in diabetes!. or goto a clinic and ask them!. they maybe able to answer that better then on here!. good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'd go for the cozmo!. There both nice pumps, but if you get the meditronic 722, you'll have go refils alot more often!. I've had diabetes for three years!. Hope I could help!. =]Www@Answer-Health@Com

They each have an area of expertise!. Minimed has a downloadable program (Real Time BG Monitoring system)!. Insurance companies are beginning to cover this program and when they do, if you hold a minimed, it'll be a matter of activating that program!. If you don't, you'll either forego the program, wait for your pump to upgrade, or switch pumps (if/when your insurance company will let you)!.

Cozmo has near-perfected the minimization of pain with their spring loaded injections!. So in the end it depends which you look forward to more in your diabetes management!.

Refills aren't any different!. Pump sites all have to be changed every 2-3 days!. Every pump has refill accessories specific to their kind of pump, but they all require the basic essentials!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The answer is which one your insurance company will pay the most for!!!

Insurance companies still have the attitude that insulin pumps are in the "experimental medicine" catagory and have a hard time getting around this!. They don't care to pay much for our convenience!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Many insurance companies cover Minimed because they are the most advanced in terms of new technology like the Continuous Glucose Monitoring System that insurance companies are just starting to cover!. (however, their pumps are still not waterproof, go figure) But I have the 722 and am happy with it!.

I think the Cozmo is known to be a little more user friendly, just not as advanced with the technology, but I'm sure they're not far behind!. Does your diabetes educator have samples of each one that you could play with to see which suits you best!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi there!. My daughter is on the MiniMed Paradigm 522!. We did a bunch of research and also called the pump representatives and had them meet with us and go over the benefits of their pump and were able to compare that way!. It was nice to be able to actually look at one and hold it and figure out how it worked, and to learn about the different infusion sets too!.

It will essentially be your decision based on personal preference!. They all do the same thing!.!.!.!.give you insulin to survive!. You need to figure out which features would suit you best and what you would be more comfortable wearing!.

***We chose the MiniMed based on the CGMS option (still waiting on insurance) and the ease of uploading the pump information online!. It is also extremely easy to use and understand!.!.!.the wizard walks you through everything and my daughter (6 1/2) is able to be a lot more independent with it!. They have a website where you can upload your pump information, as well as your glucose monitor and CGMS information!. It creates an online logbook you can access anywhere and so can your doctor and diabetes educator!. Medtronic is also working with OneTouch and will have a customized meter that communicates with your pump and tells it your blood sugar readings!. We also like that Medtronic makes all of their supplies themselves and has excellent customer service!.

It all comes down to your own personal preferences!. Good luck and hope this helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com
