How dangerous is a 6.1 potassium level?!

Question: How dangerous is a 6!.1 potassium level!?
Answers:
You should be OK but it is high!. I include a link to a site that gives info about the risks/dangers of high potassium level!. When I was diagnosed (blood test) I had a reading of +14!. I was miserable!. In fact I was told I was close to checking out!. Now a days, if it's below 7 I feel relived!. But lower is better! I would prefer to be below 6!. Where I am now!

"The effects of elevated potassium levels are related to the health of your heart!. When potassium stays in your blood because your kidneys aren't filtering it out, you may experience weakness accompanied by an irregular heartbeat!. This condition, called hyperkalemia, can be detected with an electrocardiogram after you exhibit symptoms!."Www@Answer-Health@Com

having an elevated potassium is not great for your heart - if it's just a one time thing i wouldn't worry too much (avoid bananas!)
if it's elevated for a long time and you're being careful with what you eat - a dr may want to give you some k exulate (sp!?) this will reduce the amount of potassium in your bloodstream - but it's a last resortWww@Answer-Health@Com

Potassium is a mineral (electrolyte) in the body!. Almost 98% of potassium is found inside the cells!. Small changes in the level of potassium that is present outside the cells can have severe effects on the heart, nerves, and muscles!.

Potassium is important to maintain several bodily functions:

Muscles need potassium to contract!.

The heart muscle needs potassium to beat properly and regulate blood pressure!.

The kidney is the main organ that controls the balance of potassium!. It removes excess potassium into the urine!.

Hyperkalaemia (BE) is an elevated blood level of the electrolyte potassium
!.

The normal potassium level is 3!.5-5!.0 mEq/L (this is a measure used to evaluate the level)!. High potassium is defined as a potassium level below 5!.0 mEq/L!.

Symptoms are fairly nonspecific, and generally include malaise, palpitations and muscle weakness; mild hyperventilation may indicate metabolic acidosis, one of the possible causes of hyperkalemia!. Often, however, the problem is detected during screening blood tests for a medical disorder, or it only comes to medical attention after complications have developed, such as cardiac arrhythmia or sudden death!.

During the medical history taking, a physician will dwell on kidney disease and medication use (see below), as these are the main causes!. The combination of abdominal pain, hypoglycemia and hyperpigmentation, often in the context of a history of other autoimmune disorders, may be signs of Addison's disease, itself a medical emergency!.

Extreme degrees of hyperkalemia are considered a medical emergency due to the risk of potentially fatal arrhythmias!.

Lack of potassium also causes diabetes
