Answers:
Here is the National Institute on Health/Center for Disease Control correct answer to your question:

"Can shingles be spread to others!?

Shingles cannot be passed from one person to another!. However, the virus that causes shingles, VZV, can be spread from a person with active shingles to a person who has never had chickenpox through direct contact with the rash!. The person exposed would develop chickenpox, not shingles!. The virus is not spread through sneezing, coughing or casual contact!. A person with shingles can spread the disease when the rash is in the blister-phase!. Once the rash has developed crusts, the person is no longer contagious!. A person is not infectious before blisters appear or with post-herpetic neuralgia (pain after the rash is gone)!.
What can be done to prevent the spread of shingles!?

The risk of spreading shingles is low if the rash is covered!. People with shingles should keep the rash covered, not touch or scratch the rash, and wash their hands often to prevent the spread of VZV!. Once the rash has developed crusts, the person is no longer contagious!."

The above quote from the CDC is word for word definitive and valid, rather than opinion!.

1!. You cannot catch shingles whither you have had chickenpox or not!.

2!. Shingles can only take place after varicela zoster virus(VZV) has entered nerves from a previous infection, not as an initial infection!.

3!. Unlike chickenpox which is highly contagious, shingles simply needs to be covered to prevent spread!.

4!. You already have the virus in your body from having had chickenpox as a child!.

5!. If VZV was spread from a person with shingles to someone who had not had chickenpox, that person would not have shingles but chickenpox!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can possibly turn up with shingles, but it would be an activation of your own virus within your body!.

Shingles is caused bt the REACTIVATION of the chickenpox virus in the body years after the initial illness!. It is more common in older adults and those with weakened immune systems (such as those with HIV and cancer to name a couple)!.

No one knows what makes the virus active again, and it doesn't happen to everyone!. Exposure to the shingles rash CAN CAUSE chickenpox in a person who never has had chickenpox before!. Also, quite a few cases of shingles reportedly have occured after the individual was around another case of shingles!. This could have been pure coincidence, but it had to be an activation of the virus present in their own body, not "catching" the virus from the other person!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes they are contagious!. However if you have had chickenpox as child you should be fine!. I see alot of this in older patients at the Dr's office where i work at!. And have yet to have been infected!. Be sure to wipe everything down!. via Clorox wipes just to make yourself comfortable!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think only if the blister are scratched and fluid is rubbed on you, other than that, no!. Get shingles from chicken pox virus, had chicken pox as a kid, 40 years later I got the shinglesWww@Answer-Health@Com

If you have had chicken pox then it is unlikely that you will catch it off her, just to be safe avoid any skin contact untill the spots dry out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't know but do know that you can get them more than once and they can be very painful!. I understand that there is a vaccine available nowlWww@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, but only through contact with it!. Just being near the person won't ause you to catch it, only if you comein contact with fluid from the rashWww@Answer-Health@Com
