Coughing stuff up?!

Question: Coughing stuff up!?
I've had a cough for about a month now and it's just lingering on!. (I've been coughing up phlegm which is normal)!. I saw the doctor and she said it's a viral infection and not bacterial, therefore antibiotics would have no effect and I have to wait it out until it goes!. I was quite badly congested, so i took sudafed which cleared it up!. Now all I have is the cough!. Sometimes I cough so hard that it triggers a gag reflex and makes me wretch!. On two seperate occassions now I have brought up a little stomach acid as a result of coughing so hard!. Last night I had just had a cup of tea, and 5/10 mins later I brought some of it back up when i coughed!. Is this normal!? Has it happened to any of you!? I'm really worried about it!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sometimes the body gets used to coughing and this becomes a reflex although the infection seems from what you say to have passed!. Try some breathing exercises be more aware of your breath!. Your medical practitioner should point you in the right direction of a good therapist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well you need to keep your fluids and solids up!. If you don't keep these up you just cough up gastric juices which will burn you esophagus and trachea which can cause more problems later on in life!. By keeping the fluids up it gives you something to spew up that is not as uncomfortable as a solid!. You should also see your GP as it may be a problem with your ring muscle that closes your esophagus from your stomach!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
