How do you feel about your insulin pump?!

Question: How do you feel about your insulin pump!?
Answers:
I've been using a pump since the latter part of 1998 and I absolutely adore mine!. It gives me so much more control of my blood sugars, and even more in the way of freedom !.!.!. that's freedom to eat when I want, and basically do what I want!.

Of course, it does have a few setbacks !.!.!. one of which is the number of times that you must check your blood sugar during any day!. This is because pumps use fast-acting insulin, thereby giving a greater chance of hypos if you dont know what your blood sugar level is doing!. Also, because you're not using a longer acting insulin, there's a chance that things could start to get a little heated, blood sugar wise, if your cannula (the small flexible tube that's inserted into your fatty tissues) gets accidentally pulled out!. (If there's a blockage, the pump will alarm, but if insulin is still being fed through, it won't!.)

Prior to using a pump I used to use multiple daily injections, but control was so bad that I used to spend as much time, if not more, in hospital as I was spending at home!. Now things are totally reversed!. I'm able to live my life to a fuller extent!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I was really skeptical about the pump for the longest time!. But i stopped responding to insulin and eventually had to give in becasue I did not have a choice!. I have been on the Minimed (by Medtronic) pump for almost a week now!. Most of my sugars have been under ten, and thats a HUGE improvement, because they were always over 20, 24/7 before!. I got so used to having high blood sugars, that they felt NORMAL to me!. bad bad BAD! And when i was like, say 7!.5, i'd feel so low i could barely do anything! It was terrible!. I've been on it for almost a week, my sugars are good, I have more energy, and i feel almost like a normal kid again! I forgot what it was like!.!.!. I dont like being attached to a machine, but most of the time, i dont even notice it's there, actually, i'd forgotten i was weraing it until i came accross this question! So yah, i'd say that I am more optimistic about th pump then i am pessimistic about it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i was diagnosed with type one at age 3 and im fourteen now!. i was on the cozmo at age 12 for about 7 months or so!. i hated it!. i am a petite girl, and the needles were too big!. the tube inside was hitting my muscle, and it was really uncomfortable!. also i was worried when i was sleeping that i would roll on the tube and wouldnt be getting the proper amount of insulin!. it was also not comfortable while playing sports!. that is just my opinion though, i know several people who are on it and absolutely adore it! it never hurts to try, so if your thinking about it, go ahead!. best of luck to you, hope all goes well!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I wear a Minimed pump, and I really like it!. It gives me much better control than I was ever able to achieve in shots!. And I really like the flexibility that it gives me!. I no longer have to eat certain amounts, at certain times!. No diabetic diet, and no schedule!. Yay!.
I have had mine for about 1!.5 years, and after just a few days, I adjusted to having the pump and the tubing with me all the time, and I hardly notice it!.
So in answer to your question, I love my pump!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I dont have one!.!. My Endocrine, keeps asking me if i would like one, but honestly, it would look rather odd in a Bikini, or In the Dojo working on my aikido, or sNowboarding, Or doing any of the Athletic Things i Do!.!.
