Question: Is it possible to have unharmful skin cancer!?
I think my brother has skin cancer of some sort!.
He's had this mark ever since he was a little kid on his right upper arm!.
It hurts when people touch it and it looks like I guess a blue mole!.
It's grown a little with time but nothing has come of it!.
He's 18 years old now and it first showed up when he was maybe 5 years old!.
I don't have a picture of it but it looks kind of like the third mole in the normal mole section except it's flatter and it isn't round and it kind of gets lighter around the edges to where it kind of disappears into the skin or something!.

Also, my mom isn't big on going to the doctor's office I've been once in my life and I'm 16 years old!.
She doesn't like to do anything until it's pretty much life threatening!.

there are some forms of skin cancer that do not spread much, although they can grow on site; at least one form, however (Melanoma), can metastasize all over the body and kill!. Also, some skin conditions may not be cancerous but may still need treatment!.
Only a doctor (likely on referral to a dermatologist), however, can diagnose skin cancer, to tell you if a mole, wart etc is dangerous and needs to be removed!. Many medical conditions are easily treated at an early stage, but can be very dangerous or lethal later on!.
You and your brother would do well to get a check up every year, and address any symptoms as they occur; prevention is the best treatment!. There are skin cancers that are ok!. But most are bad but just need to be removed and nothing bad gets left behind!. There are some that grow under the skin and are life threatening and can kill ever teenagers!. Thats why there trying to ban solariums for everyone under 18!.!.!. You should get your brother to go to the doctors and he won't need your mum if he is 18!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The fact that it hurts when people touch it alarms me!. I went to a hospital sponsored health fair once and they had a station where they examined possible melanomas (privately of course)!. I had a couple questionable moles and had them checked out!. Although one mole just turned out to be odd looking, another, which bled when I scratched it caused concern!. I made an appointment to have it removed!. The doctor that removed it said it was one of three possibilities!. One, it just behaved oddly, two, it was a type of cancer that was not too harmful and that if it was that type I'd have to come in to have more skin removed and tested!. And thirdly a life threatening form of cancer in which!.!.!.well, let's just say I'd be in trouble!. Gladly it was completely benign and I've no troubles since its removal!.
To get back to your question, the fact that the mole is causing pain when it's touched is alarming!. NO BIRTHMARK SHOULD EVER CAUSE PAIN!. If your mother will only take him to the doctor if it's life threatening, this could be one of those time!. If cost is an issue, hospitals are usually very flexible with billing at no interest!. Its most likely nothing, since nothing has come of it since he got it!. Other then growing a bit!. But you can never be too sure these days with Cancer!. Id go to doctor!. Convince your mom, tell her that it's just a checkup to see if anything is wrong with it!. He's 18, he can take himself to the doctors!.
All cancers are different!. Sometimes people don't know they have it till years later!. It could be unharmful, but all types of Cancer is harmful in some way!.
So Id get it checked out, better safe than sorry!.

Well I think there is skin cancer that isn't fatal!. If thats what you mean!. You can have cancer removed if its not that bad!. My cousin had skin cancer removed from her nose awhile ago!.
But in My eyes no kind of cancer is good!. weather its fatal or not!. haha who wants to deal with that!
If your mom won't take you to the doctors try going to the school nurse to see if she can figue out what it is!. Or you can she if you have a check up scheduled anytime soon for the doctors!. then when you go you can tell your doctor about it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
