Is SSRI's harmful?!
Question: Is SSRI's harmful!?
Answers:
well no drugs are totally harmless, otherwise they would be pointless!. the thing you need to work out though is whether it would do you more damage to take them ,or not to take them!.
ive been on SSRIs for 18 months now, and they havent done me any "harm" as such!. ive had some side effects-nausea, i dropped a dress size etc!.!.!.but thats nothing compared with the depression and anxiety i was suffering from before i started taking them!.
if you have any concerns, just chat to your GP!.
hope this helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com

No they're not harmful!. They are the #1 type of anti-depressant prescribed and include Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, Effexor!.!.among many others!. Most doctors will not hesitate to prescribe them if you tell them you're depressed!. However, they come with a horrible side effect!. They either make arousal hard to achieve or for men they make finishing difficult or impossible!. They don't affect everyone this way but sexual side effects are very common!. You might want to ask for an anti-depressant that is not an SSRI like Welbutrin or Doxepin!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Like any tool, they can be good or bad!. They've kept a lot of severely depressive people alive!.
Worst case scenario with any antidepressant is that it will re-energize someone with severe suicidal intent who hasn't acted on it due to no energy - therefore enabling their suicide!.
Somewhere in the middle are all the mismatches of drug and patient biochemistry - still largely a trial and error process!.
And the unavoidable truth that 50% of all doctors were in the bottom half of their class!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
