After the birth of my second child I got a staph infection in my hands (dermatitis cracks in the creases) and through breast feeding passed it to my breast!. Extremely painful shooting pain in that area!. I was prescribed Bactroban which worked on the breast within a few hours!. It took longer on my hands as they were open splits and tore further when I bent my fingers!.

The fever in your girl is her body fighting the infection so that's a good thing!. I'd keep up the ibuprofen for anti inflammatory and also give paracetamol as secondary pain reliever if her pain is really bad, but better to leave the fever if the pain is bearable as it had a purpose!.

Also I would wear gloves when applying the antibiotic cream just in case you are run down and have even the tiniest cut because you can't afford to get the infection too!.

Good luck!. Hope she is on the mend soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Take her to the er!. that is a bad infection for anyone, especially if she is a young child!. People can die from staph if it is not treated properly and it can be spread so keep the other children away from her!. She may need intravenious antibiotics to get rid of the infection, it is possible that the oral ones are not enough!. A person can die from staph in hours!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Everything that MUM QLD said is fantastic and spot on!!
I'm sure you already know this, but be careful with the other children that they don't lay on her linens or unfortunately they really should even touch her right now, as this is so contagious when she has the fever!.

I'm so sorry you are going through all this with your husband out of town!. We Women are strong and capable individuals aren't we!!! {:DWww@Answer-Health@Com

Definitely don't be afraid to get a second opinion!. If the infection has turned into boils or cysts, get them lanced!. The fever concerns me greatly, and I think she needs antibiotics!. I battled a serious staph infection on my leg like that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you're not happy with your doctor, see a different one!.

My 8 year old son had a Staph infection and it was terrible!. He had a high fever and had a large infection on his face (which he still has a scar of from a year ago)!. His doctor gave him an antibiotic and cream!.
Then it started to blister and spread!. When I called his doctor after hours, she said take him to the hospital!. We did and they diagnosed him with Staph & Herpes infection on his face!. After we received the new medication from the hospital, it was all cured in a matter of days!.

So, my point is !.!.!. get a second opinion!. My doctor admitted to me that she's not a specialist on these types of things!. At the Children's Hospital in St!. Louis - a specialist looked at it and he was cured!. Couldn't imagine how long or how much worse it would have been if we never went there!.

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
