IBS-D? Help, is this normal?!

Question: IBS-D!? Help, is this normal!?
I'm suffering from post-infectious IBS as a result of having battled a serious infection since last summer!.

Is it normal with IBS-D to be sore and have diarrhea all day!? I was going every hour yesterday but it stopped in the late evening!. And I slept the whole night, and woke up feeling better!.!.!.but now I'm sore and the diarrhea is starting up again!.

I think this flare up could be the result of having had a bit of my boyfriend's pad-thai and eating a deep fried spring roll!.!.!.so tasty but now I'm paying for it!.

I'm bringing a sample to my doctor today to be sure it's not an infection!.

But has anyone else out there with IBS gone through the same thing!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Do you know if you have IBS or IBD!? Thats the first question!.

But yes, it is normal to feel like that especially after you eat spicy or greasy food!. That could definetely be caused by that, but if you eat a bland diet and the diarrhea doesn't let up it may be time to go see the doctor again!. I would suggest a bland diet called BRAT (bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast)!. And remember to keep hydrated - replace all that fluid you're losing with water and gatorade!. This lets your stomach rest and get back to normal!. If you can't stick to that just try to be nice to your stomach with "gentle foods" - nothing gassy, spicy, greasy, etc!. It may be a flare up or it could just be your body responding to the food and may go back to normal!.

I think its also strange how you could still be having intestinal problems that are residual from the infection!. Did you ever get a colonoscopy!? I'm guessing your stool tests have come back okay lately since its decidedly IBS/IBD!. I would definetely try to get that distinction made by a doctor though - because there are meds for both that can help!. I have Crohn's (IBD) and you shouldn't be feeling like this! Its normal when you have it, but there are meds that can make you feel a lot better and less reactive to foods like this!. Anyways if you want me to clarify anything or I didn't answer your question, let me know!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
