Barium Swallow - Will it cause Nausea?!

Question: Barium Swallow - Will it cause Nausea!?

I have to get a CT scan and need to take a LOT of Barium contrast (32 oz in two hours)!. I'm already nauseous all the time!. I do throw up pretty easily (that's why I need the CT scan) !. I'm wondering if this Barium will upset my stomach!? If I can't keep it in my system, it will be hard for me to get the CT scan!.

It shouldn't make you any more nauseous than currently but suggest you discuss the matter with the nurse!. Just had a CT scan last week and it actually caused diarrhea rather than nausea!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
