Question: How do I know whether i have leukemia or what i was diagnosed with!?
I recently went to the doc and was told i had mono/ebv!. I was online and noticed that my symptoms also line up with leukemia!. Would the doc be able to tell if i had leukemia when he took a blood test to test for mono or would he have to be looking for it!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I recently went through a similar scenario and my doctor ran multiple tests including white, red and platelet counts to rule out other causes of illness!.
You should call your doctor and ask what tests he ran!.
If it was the rapid, five minute mono test then no, other things would not show up!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think if your blood was really out of wack the doctor could tell if you had leukemia without doing a special test!. I just went to the emergency room with a migraine and possible kidney stone and the blood tests showed up my leukemia right away!. That night and weekend started me on my nightmare of a journey!. So if it will make you feel any better you can ask the doctor to do a special test to put your fears as rest!. Good luck with this!. Even though I am in remission I have a bone marrow test coming up!. Just be thankful you don't have to have one of them!. I will be praying for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
if he took your CBC he would be able to tell but if he only checked for EBV then there is no way he could tell!. However, if you were positive for EBV then it's unlikely you also have leukemia!. If those come back negative then talk to your doctor about it but I think leukemia would cause some swollen lymph nodes in your armpits, whereas EBV usually just swells your neck lymph nodes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
