Question: Has anyone heard of Lyme Disease linked to sexual contact!?
My sister told me her husband has it and now they want to test her!.!.!. cause the doc says it is a sexual contact thing!. I am a nurse and I have never heard of this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think that doc's misinformed!.
Although it is POSSible- on a theoretical basis- as Lyme spirochettes have been spotted in semen on rare occasion,
the vagina's bacterial defenses are formidable!.
Since the spirochette would not have a chance to "adapt" to it's new surroundings (alter it's outer protein coating to be similar to the new host), it would be a "sitting duck"!.
There are plenty of sexual partners who are both infected, but all can be explained by similar exposure to ticks!.
Bottom line: No "documented" cases of Lyme disease transmission via human sexual contact existed, as of 2006, acc to the CDC!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Although in theory Lyme disease could spread through blood transfusions or other contact with infected blood or urine, no such transmission has been documented!. There is no evidence that a person can get Lyme disease from the air, food or water, from sexual contact, or directly from wild or domestic animals!. There is no convincing evidence that Lyme disease can be transmitted by insects such as mosquitoes, flies, or fleas!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
There have not been any official studies to prove sexual transmission, so the official medical position is that there is none!. Alas, there is a lot of anecdotal evidence that suggests that Lyme can in fact be transmitted sexually!. A Lyme specialist I know says that sometimes when a patient doesn't seem to be getting well with treatment, he treats the partner and then the first patient gets better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Lyme disease is transmitted by a "tick" commonly seen in rodents and deers!. Your sister got it only if she and her husband made whoopie in the "woods" !. Serious the ticks can "jump" from him to her duting intimacy (but it is not transmitted via sexual contacts!! Check the license of the Doc!Www@Answer-Health@Com
There was an episode in 'house md'!. The tick was in the girls private areas post a stint with her boyfriend who had been hiding in some bush!. doesnt harm to go get checked out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
